    Cayenne is extractextractto get, separate, or isolate a desired active ingrediented from fruit and is available as dried or fresh herbs. It is taken orallyorallyto be taken by mouth (swallowed) or topicallytopicallyto be applied on the skin as tea, capsule, tablet, or ointment.
  • Oral:
  • tea: ½ to 1 teaspoon ground herb in 250 mL of hot water, simmer for 10 to 15 minutes
    capsule or tablet: 30 mg to 120 mg, 3 times per day
    Topical:
  • ointment (0.025% to 0.075% capsaicin): 60 g dried herb or 150 g fresh herb per 500 g of ointment base, 3 times per day
    Cayenne may be used up to 14 days.
