Folate is a factor in the maintenance of good health. It also helps the body to metabolize proteins and to produce red blood cells.
- Dose-specific claim:
- For products providing daily doses of folate at or above 400 µg, folate helps to prevents neural tube defects when taken prior to becoming pregnant and during early pregnancy.
For products providing daily doses of folate at or above the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) (adjusted for the life stage groups), folate helps to prevent folate deficiency.
